Q&A with Oversoon, the band

It’s time for August’s free outdoor concert at the cafe- this friday from 6-8 pm, hear live music from Oversoon, while enjoying scoops of our very favorite gf, vegan, allergen friendly hand-made ice cream from Honey Bear. Read on to learn more about the Oversoon band members, Daniel, Jordan, and Jared (spoiler alert, they’re brothers!) as they share some intel behind their “groovy pop rock” trio.

How did you make the jump from music listeners to creators (how did the band start)?

We're all three brothers, and grew up listening to a lot of different artists and genres of music. Our parents never discouraged us from pursuing a career in music, but taught us that if you want to be excellent at anything, you have to put in the hard work and discipline to hone your skills. We have been playing in various worship and band settings since we were kids, but it was initially more of a fun side-thing. Then, when Daniel and Jordan were starting off college at Messiah College (now University), we played some covers at a series of talent shows and the energy and feedback we got from those performances really pushed us into writing our own stuff and taking the band seriously.

If you could be front row at any concert, whose would it be?

Daniel: Right now, probably Rex Orange County.

Jordan: Led Zeppelin, preferably in the late 60s

Jared: L'Impératrice, and we'll be seeing them in January, fingers crossed for the front row!

What is a song you think should be on every wedding playlist?

Daniel: "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen

Jordan: "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2

Jared: "Gold Digger" by Kanye West

Can you give a little background about your musical style/influence?

We're a little all over the place with what we listen to, but our biggest influences over the years have been artists like half•alive, twentyonepilots, Jon Bellion, Mutemath... we've also been listening to a lot of indie and funky stuff recently. Artists like L'Impératrice, Noah Kahan, Ryan Beatty, Stephen Day, Mk.Gee. We're probably equally as big on lyrical content as we are on musical content, so we gravitate towards storytellers and those who are intentional about every aspect of their craft, not just the 'feel' of it.

Where else can we hear you?

If you want a free Zine (little magazine) telling you more about the band and what we're about, shoot us a message on Instagram @oversoontheband, and you can listen to our music wherever you stream by looking up "Oversoon"

We’re so grateful to all our local musicians who’ve partnered with us over the summer season to bring live music to our community. Together, we’ve spread a little extra light and love.
